Idaho Scramble

Day 3 in Boise!  This city has been GREAT to us so far! People are friendly and engaging and interested in meeting and really talking to us; it’s been refreshing.

The show went well. I spent the hour before we played hanging out with the other band Ella Ferrari, who super rocks, trying to rally something of a crowd by approaching folks on the street and in bars, and I was actually able to pull some people in! We played well (the best yet on tour according to Chris) and the locals were very enthusiastic.

Along with the uber-friendly vibes we’ve also encountered incredible generosity. Jennifer, the promoter of the show was kind enough to house the band for a night, and she even got us a gig playing on local radio… so cool! And last night, while looking for a non-existent art co-op to try ‘n crash at, we met an awesome woman named Rebecca smoking on her front porch who offered us her living room if we couldn’t find the spot! We ended up back at her place after a futile search. Aside from her day job as a stylist in town, she’s a witch… she informed me that the spell had already been cast in case we turned out to be assholes, but that she trusted us intuitively. She cooked us dinner and we all stayed up late talking philosophy and religion and just shooting the shit and watching The Big Lebowsky! Such a cool lady!

People here are so nice and excited to help us, and they love music! I’m stoked to come back to Boise!

The Road to Boise

Holy shit! Played Olympia and chilled all night with the other bands - Jesse didn’t sleep til 10am!!! This town is an interesting mix of conscious minded folk and down n out street kids; the vibe reminds me of a dirtier Berkeley. Now we’re gearing up for the 10 hour drive to Boise and some hilltop star camping!

Seattle’s “Best”

Seattle WA, 800 miles from home, chilling with my oldest friend Tristan Olson, feeling that surreal vibe that sometimes happens in the moment before a dream fades to consciousness. We played Blue Moon tavern in the University District to an enthusiastic crowd and now we’re on to Olympia, the former epicenter of punk!  We’ve come SO FAR! Modesto, Fresno, Oakland, Redding, Nevada City, Ashland, Eugene, Corvallis, Yachats, Portland, and Seattle….. and the end is still over 2500 miles away! Whoever planned this tour is freakin’ nuts.

Summer Sun Burn’s getting crispy!

I’m late in the game, but I couldn’t let Van and Chris monopolize the DI blogosphere! Tune in for the true DI Tour experience.
